I'm always looking forward to meeting some new people, sharing in the fun and excitement and offering up some new music.

The Convertibles is a five piece Connecticut band.  Formed in the early 80's, the Convertibles are noted for playing along the eastern shoreline and all points North, South and West.

Lead Singer and bandleader, Katherine Christopher, is the only remaining original member of the Rhythm and Blues band.  Who's playing?  The Convertibles are as versatile as the music they choose to play.  Most recently the lineup is Mighty Mike Roth on Guitar, Bernie Soroko on Drums, Jim Florian on Bass and Bill Holloman, John Smayda, Joe Meo and Bob Nunno on Sax.  Somtimes we'll see Daddy-o Jay Wiggin on Bass or Mr. Jerry Langley from the Langely Brothers Band.  Sometimes I can get my fav piano man when the cards are in my favor, and we'll have Joe McWilliams on board too.  How lucky am I?  "The only thing different about the lead singer is the color of her hair....."

Sad note that former Convertibles drummer, from the 90's, Bob Sheehan passed away in July of 2009.  Bob was a well known drummer, singer, bass player and Trumpet player and his eclectic talent and generous spirit will be missed across the nation - he played everywhere and anyone who met him, will never forget him.  Rest in peace, Bob-a-louie.

Please also check out Katherine and the Standards - a combo of fun jazz, swing and country things.  Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Ella FItzgerald and so many others!

"What makes the Convertibles so 'convertible'?"  Well, with twenty (plus) or so years of performing experience in their band history, their artistic and musical stylings have evolved as players have come and gone throughout the years.  As eclectic as the fans they love, the band has changed and adapted and transformed many times over.  They've opened for Buddy Guy, John Sebastian, Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters,Tower of Power, and Jonathon Edwards has been known to sit in and countless oldies bands.  They've played at the Great CT Traditional Jazz Festival and jammed with Dejans Olympia Brass Band from New Orleans, played on more than 20 "town greens"in the state, at Toad's Place at least a dozen times, for dignitaries, weddings, anniversaries, churches, birthday parties, graduations, reunions, get-togethers, Road Races, Swing Dances and holiday parties.  They've played all over Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusettes, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Canada, oh! and don't forget the fabulous times on Block Island and Long Island.  We spent a week in Florida sitting in for the vacationing Hurricanes at the Caribbean Club....now that was fun too!

Many thanks to Rich Sullivan for having us for so long at the Highliner and the wonderful crazy nights at Cafe Nine with Mike and Mo in New Haven.  All this music has made my life very full and rich!

Always a brand new show!
